take a sleeping bag to south east asia?
I am going backpacking to south east asia- thailand and malaysia mainly. There will be a few places where it will be cool at night. I have a weight limit of under 15kg. I already have a silk sleeping bag liner to take in case the bedding isn't very clean. Is it worth taking a proper sleeping bag as well? Answers from people who have been to this area/ similar climates will be v much appreciated.
Thanks for all the advice so far. I'm only staying in bangkok for one night, chiang mai for a week, cambodia (Angkor Wat area) for a few days, kuala lumpar for a couple of nights, the perhentian islands for two to three weeks, and borneo (sabah) for two weeks. Im climbing mount kinabalu and the overnight stay there will be cold, but i think thats the only actual cold night. The budget is a 'lets see how much it costs as we go' affair.
You will want a very very light weight sleeping bag if any. If you are in the cheaper end of the motels and not in the city, it could be very HOT at nite.
I am not sure where you are from, but the weather all year round will be very humid and hot. unless where you stay will have AC. it will be like Florida in the summer? with added humidity. And it will be the same for thailand as well, until you get to the beach area.
But do get something because bedding definitely will not be too clean for backpackers.
A look at what is currently available on eBay
