In one of the first episodes
from the first season
we are introduced to the
origins of Dino ---
On a hunting trip Fred and Barney
run into a fast talking - and quick
witted Snorkasaurus who outwits
them at every turn...
Dissappointed by the hunt and tired
of being made fools of, the boys
decide to go home ....
The Snorkasaurus quickly becomes
saddened by the fact that his new
playmates are not wanting to play with
him anymore
He corners Fred and tells him how
lonely he has been and decides to
concede...
The Snorkasaurus makes a deal with
Fred and tells him that
" ... if he is willing to take him home with
them he will always be obedient and
that Fred would never have to listen to
him talk back EVER "
in later episodes Dino
{which they name him}
becomes more like a
loyal pet and the fact that
he once talked is NEVER
brought up again

His role was considerably altered in episode eighteen, "The Snorkasaurus Hunter", where he was portrayed (in an apparent flashback story) talking (although from the rest of the series, he bark like a dog, nobody knows why they changed his voice. For that episode, he was voiced by Jerry Mann.
