why is my westie afraid of the Hair dryer?
My 3 year old westie ( Daisy ) Never Used to be afraid of the hair dryer now she runs away yelping from it!! we dont know whats going on we haven't done anything different! it started on Tuesday and this is what she did:
10am woke up and then went back to sleep
11am begged for food at breakfast and got a sausage
12am came back in from the garden black from digging
1pm came home from the Dog Salon (lol)
2pm woke up from sleeping
3pm went for a walk
4pm begged for lunch and got a steak
4:30 buried the steak
5pm playing with the guinea-pigs
6pm slept AGAIN
7pm ran away yelping from the dryer
Please help me!!
She was probably startled by the noise and now whenever she sees it is afraid it will hurt her. This happened to my dog. I practice shooting with a bb gun sometimes and when I take it out of the closet, he goes crazy! What I did was set the gun [locked with no bb's of course] on the ground and waited awhile. Eventually he got used to it and realized it wouldn't hurt him. I had to do this a few times but he got the idea soon enough. Try doing the same thing with the dryer. Leave it somewhere on the ground [where you can see it] and wait for your dog to investigate. Hope this helps!
